Senior Specialist - Vegetation Management (2-Year Contract) [Ref.: CLPP-PSBG-NR-OB-SS-VM] Applications are invited for the above vacancy in the Operations Branch of North Region. Reporting to the Manager of the Branch, the appointee is required to: - Major Duties: Provide specialist advice and support to various departments in compliance with applicable Arboriculture, Horticulture and Landscape legislations and authority requirements, the Company’s code of practices and power systems requirements Formulate Vegetation Management (VM) Plan and associated work plans to meet the business objectives Liaise and co-ordinate with various departments on implementation of operational and maintenance work and to plan, schedule and set up precautions to meet the Company’s requirements and the Safety Rules Prepare adequate and justifiable budgets and monitor expenditures for the activities Manage suppliers and service contractors to achieve the relevant objectives and targets of the departments in CLPP Be responsible for proper record updating and management of VM work Assist Manager - Vegetation Management to periodically review and continuously implement VM policy, procedure, standard and guideline such as Safety Working Procedure, and all types of technical and SHEQ documents Closely monitor the operation and performance of Vegetation Management System in CLPP Assist Manager - Vegetation Manager to perform data analytics for performance of IT system periodically and recommend improvement based on the analytic result Review quality assurance plan and productivity and carry out productivity measures and analysis Carry out daily administration of Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM) Operation Centre including contractor management, long-term and short-term work programming, tools and equipment procurement, inspection and maintenance Be proactive to initiate innovation and technology enhancement of IVM work for continuous improvement Perform training coordination for the purpose to fulfill new international standard and government guidelines and requirements, and also coordinate with international experts to develop and implement training programs for IVM staff to attain specialized skills in vegetation management Coordinate and negotiate with Government Departments, such as LCSD and AFCD, regarding tree work application, working procedure and related requirement Perform duty under adverse weather conditions Perform standby or emergency call-out duty outside normal office hours and carry out emergency repairs work as and when required Requirements:- A recognized university degree in Applied Science, Environmental Science, Electrical Engineering or related discipline A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in Arboriculture and/or Vegetation Management Registered or Certified Arborist Familiar with all relevant arboriculture & horticulture legislations and codes of practices Sound knowledge in tree risk assessment, tree climbing and chainsaw operation Good knowledge in Ecological Survey is an advantage Good knowledge of CLP Power Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules, SHE systems, programs and standards is preferable Proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese Strong sense of responsibility with good interpersonal and communication skills Flexible, self-driven, adaptable to changes and willing to meet challenges Candidates with less qualification and/or experience but demonstrate good potential for further development will be considered for a position at lower grade.
